MAINTENANCE
A-Tech Flooring® Laminate Flooring Cleaning & Care Instructions
Cleaning Your Laminate Flooring:
- Sweep a dry dust mop across the surface of the floor every few days to remove everyday dirt. You can use vacuum with the hard floor attachment (not the beater bar) to prevent accumulation of dirt and grit that can scratch or dull the floor finish. Note: Do not use a standard floor brush. The stiff, straw-like bristles on the brush could damage the surface.
- For a deeper cleaning, use a damp cotton cloth or cloth mop.
- Periodically clean the floor with cleaning products made specifically for laminate floor care.
- It is recommended to clean a floor in the same general direction as the texture, not across it. A sticky, hazy or greasy looking surface can occur if the floor was cleaned the wrong way such as: using too much cleaner or the wrong cleaners like detergents or soaps.
- Clean up spills immediately. Use a cloth or sponge to immediately clean up any liquid spills. Do not allow any liquid, even water, to sit on the floor for prolonged periods. Liquid can stain or damage the protective wear layer of the laminate flooring. Soak up excess liquid with a dry cloth. Dampen the cloth or sponge before spot-cleaning the location of the spill to remove any remaining residue. Dry the spot with a dry, soft cloth. Do not allow the area to remain wet.
Do NOT:
- DO NOT wax or refinish your laminate flooring.
- DO NOT use a steam mop on your laminate flooring.
- DO NOT wash or wet mop the floor with soap, water, oil-soap detergent or any other liquid cleaning product. This could cause swelling, warping, delamination, and joint-line separation, and void the warranty.
- DO NOT use any type of buffing or polishing machine on your laminate flooring.
Protecting Your Laminate:
- Entry mats will help collect the dirt, sand, grit and other substances such as oil, asphalt or driveway sealer that might otherwise be tracked onto your floor.
- Make sure your rugs have a solid backing, so soil doesn’t sift through the rug to come in contact with the floor.
- Use floor protectors or felt covers on chair legs, sofas, TV stands, tables and other easily moveable furniture so you don’t scratch the floors. As a rule, the heavier the object, the wider the floor protector.
- Replace plastic casters on chairs with rubber wheels.
- Maintain a normal indoor relative humidity level between 35% and 65% throughout the year to minimize the natural expansion and contraction of the wood.
- Avoid excessive exposure to water during periods of inclement weather.
- Lift, don’t slide, heavy objects across floors.
- Keep your pets nails trimmed to prevent them from scratching your floor.
Repair & Stain Removal
- Chocolate, grease, juice, and wine
Use a cotton rag dampen with warm water and a nonabrasive, degreasing cleaner (such as, ammonia and water).
- Tar, markers, crayon, lipstick, oil, shoe polish, ink, nail polish and cigarette burn
Use acetone/nail polish remover or denatured alcohol. Note: Apply using a cotton rag, do not apply directly to the floor. Do not use on coordinating wall base or quarter round.
- Candle wax or chewing gum
Remove candle wax or chewing gum from laminate with a blunt plastic scraper after the material has hardened.
- Glue
To remove glue, use an appropriate glue remover. After use, be sure to clean with standard cleaning products.
A-Tech Flooring® Rigid Vinyl Flooring Care Instructions
Cleaning Your Rigid Vinyl Flooring:
- Sweep or vacuum the floor regularly to remove loose dirt. Avoid using a vacuum with a beater bar. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the surface of the floor.
- Damp mop as needed using clean water and a diluted floor cleaner. Do not use harsh cleaners or chemicals on the floor. Use of improper cleaning products may damage your floor and void your warranty.
- Remove spills immediately with a soft absorbent cloth.
Do NOT:
- DO NOT wax or refinish your WPC/SPC flooring.
- DO NOT use a steam mop on your WPC/SPC flooring.
- DO NOT wash or wet mop the floor with soap, water, oil-soap detergent or any other liquid cleaning product. This could cause swelling, warping, delamination, and joint-line separation, and void the warranty.
- DO NOT use any type of buffing or polishing machine on your WPC/SPC flooring.
Protecting Your Rigid Vinyl Flooring:
- Avoid exposure to long periods of direct sunlight. Close blinds or drapes during peak sunlight hours.
- Long-term continuous inside temperatures over 43°C / 110 F combined with strong direct sunlight could damage your WPC/SPC and cause the installation to fail.
- Use walk-off mats at entrances to prevent dirt and grit from being tracked onto the floor.
- Do not allow pets with unclipped nails to damage your WPC/SPC. It may result in severe scratching to the surface. The same is true for any high-heeled shoes that do not have proper tips on the heels.
- If your floor has been exposed to excessive amounts of water due to flooding simply remove the water as quickly as possible. A dehumidifier should be promptly turned on in the room to reduce the moisture levels back to normal. Do not dry the room below the normal moisture level that existed previously.
- When moving appliances or heavy furniture it is always suggested to use plywood panel on your floor and “walk” the item across it. We also recommend using floor protectors under furniture and placing a walk-off mat at outside entrances to reduce the amount of dirt being brought into your home.
Repair & Stain Removal
